Step 2 – Risk Assessment and Control Procedures

If it is not reasonably practicable to eliminate the hazard, it must be minimised so far as is reasonably practicable by:

  • Substituting the hazard with something that gives rise to a lesser risk, or
  • Isolating the hazard to prevent any person coming into contact with it, or
  • Engineering Controls such as modifying plant and equipment to minimise the risk of injury, or
  • Administrative Controls such as changing or modifying work methods or procedures, or
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as issuing protective eye wear and making sure it is worn.
